Barry Allen returns to his childhood home, where he lived with his parents, Nora and Henry, prior to Henry's unjust imprisonment for Nora's death, after assisting Bruce Wayne / Batman and Diana Prince / Wonder Woman in stopping a heist in Gotham City.[a] Nora left her alone in the kitchen the day before she was killed by an unnamed assailant, sending Henry to the grocery store to pick up a can of food she had forgotten to buy.[b] Driven insane by feelings, Barry unintentionally creates a "Chronobowl" out of the Speed Force and goes back in time to a previous part of the day. In order to save his father from having to leave, Barry puts the can in Nora's cart at the grocery store, despite Bruce's cautions about the unexpected repercussions of time travel.
As the Barry tries time travel multiple times to save Batman and Kara, but he keeps failing. Even though 2013-Barry knows that this particular chain of events cannot be altered, he persists. The multiverse begins to collapse while 2013-Barry travels.
Barry is seen to be an older, future version of himself from 2013, who still has faith in his ability to beat Zod and preserve Earth, when the mystery speedster who first forced Barry out of the Speed Force reappears. When Barry discloses that he plans to undo the timeline's modifications by allowing Nora to pass away, he becomes enraged. While trying to kill young 2013-Barry, the elder 2013-Barry is impaled, and young 2013-Barry gives his life to save Barry and erase his future self from history. Based on the DC Comics character Barry Allen/Flash, The Flash is an American superhero movie from 2023. It's the 13th movie in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), directed by Andy Muschietti from a story by Joby Harold, a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and a writing team that includes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Barry, played by Ezra Miller, is a time traveler who ends up trapped in a different past after trying to stop his mother from dying. Alongside Kiersey Clemons, Michael Keaton, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Michael Shannon, and Antje Traue, Sasha Calle also stars in her feature debut.

Subsequently, the movie had a revamp as a component of the DCEU, including Miller in the lead role. Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, and Daley and Goldstein were among the directors associated to the movie over the next few years, but they all left due to creative differences. Pre-production on the movie started in January 2020, and Muschietti and Hodson joined in July 2019. Inspired by the plot of the 2011 comic book Flashpoint, the movie includes several portrayals of Batman (Keaton included) and other DC characters, including Calle's Supergirl. April through October of 2021, Warner was the site of filming.
