Mahesh Bhatt is the director of the 1996 Indian Hindi-language romantic thriller film Chaahat, which translates to "desire." Similar to his father, Shambunath Singh Rathod, Roop Singh Rathore is a vocalist in Rajasthan. Shambunath becomes ill and travels to Bombay for emergency medical attention. Roop and his father relocate to Bombay right away, where Roop gets employment at an Ajay Narang-owned hotel. One day, Reshma, Ajay Narang's sister, falls in love with Roop as he is singing at his hotel. Reshma is a spoilt child, and Ajay grants her every want.
