The main character of the tale is the cunning con artist Sanjay "Sanju" Shastri (Sanjay Dutt), who has a kind heart. Jogia Seth (Paresh Rawal), a smuggler to whom he owes Rs. 50 lakhs, and he get into a fight. If Sanju is to save himself and the orphan Gudia—who ends up as a hostage—he must earn the money in a month.

Natwar (Johnny Lever) saves Sanju at this very moment. Natwar says that one approach for Sanju to make quick money is to pose as "Sanju Shastri" and con the Chaudhary family—a family that has never met—for the money.

Sanju chooses to heed his friend's advice because he is at a loss for what to do and succeeds in entering Chaudhary Villa as their NRI relative. Sanju begins forming friendships with the Chaudhary family members. Dilip, Mahesh, and Satish, the three brothers of Chaudhary Parivar, reside as an extended family.

Dilip (Om Puri), the eldest brother, is a good man who looks after the family and the whole family business.

The second brother, Mahesh (Ashok Saraf), is a chronic gambler and not very good at honesty or hard work.

The third, Satish (Jatin Kanakia), is often distracted and prone to forgetting things.

The oldest Chaudhary brother, Dilip, is the father of Shivani (Urmila Matondkar). Shivani lacks confidence and self-worth, which worries the entire family about her chances of being married.

When Sanju appears on the scene, he solves everyone's problems—including Shivani's dull and uninteresting one—and wins them all over. The remainder of the movie follows Sanju's transformation of Shivani from an ordinary girl to a stunning woman. Additionally, it brings the family together and causes Shivani and Sanju to fall in love. Sanju is arrested trying to flee by stealing and breaking & entering. Sanju ultimately triumphs over Jogia, and everyone survives.

Rahul Sughand produced and Sanjay Chhel directed the 1999 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film Khoobsurat, which translates to "Beautiful." Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar are the main actors, with a large supporting cast. The movie's box office performance was deemed a failure.
