The story revolves around two brothers, one of which has superpowers and is an avid follower of Lord Hanuman. The other character was that of a meek magician who aspires to perform an escape trick which had claimed the life of his street magician father.

तूफ़ान ( शाब्दिक रूप से  'स्टॉर्म') 1989 की भारतीय हिंदी भाषा की सुपरहीरो फिल्म है , जिसका निर्देशन केतन देसाई ने किया है । फिल्म में अमिताभ बच्चन दोहरी भूमिका में हैं, एक मुख्य भूमिका में और दूसरा जादूगर के रूप में, साथ ही अमृता सिंह , मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि , प्राण और फारूक शेख । यह फिल्म 1987 में लॉन्च की गई थी, लेकिन गंगा जमुना सरस्वती (1988) की असफलता के बाद प्रोडक्शन के मुद्दों और फिल्म की दोबारा शूटिंग के कारण इसमें देरी हुई, जिसमें बच्चन और शेषाद्रि भी थे।

Ketan Desai directed the 1989 Indian Hindi-language superhero movie Toofan (lit. "Storm"). Amitabh Bachchan plays two roles in the movie: the magician and the title character. Amrita Singh, Meenakshi Seshadri, Pran, and Farooq Sheikh also feature. Launched in 1987, the movie was postponed because of production problems and reshoots following the controversy surrounding Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswati (1988), which also starred Bachchan and Seshadri.

Finally, on August 11, 1989, over the weekend of Independence Day, Toofan was made available. Critics gave it mostly mixed reviews, and it opened the box office strongly before collapsing in the second week as a result of the release of Dharmendra's Elaan-E-Jung. The movie ultimately became an average earner and the 12th highest grossing picture of 1989.
