Life of Pi (2012) 720p Watch Online
Life of Pi is a 2012 adventure drama film that was directed and produced by Ang Lee, and written by David Magee. Based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the identical name, it stars Suraj Sharma on his feature debut, Irrfan Khan, the Tabu, Rafe Spall, Gérard Depardieu, and Adil Hussain in leading parts. The plot centres around two disaster victims who have been stuck aboard a lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific for the past 227 days. One is a sixteen-year-old Indian lad called Pi Patel (Suraj Sharma), while the other is a dangerous Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.
The movie started production immediately after the book's debut, with directors M. Night Shyamalan, Alfonso Cuarón, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet interested at various points until Lee was hired.
In 2011, filming was split between India, Taiwan, and Montreal, with visual effects handled by Rhythm & Hues Studios.
On September 28, 2012, the film made its world premiere as the opening feature of the 50th New York Film Festival, which took place at both the Walter Reade Theatre and Alice Tully Hall. 20th Century Fox distributed it in theatres across the United States on November 21.
Life of Pi was a commercial success, grossing more than $609 million, and garnered generally excellent reviews from reviewers, who complimented Lee's direction, screenplay, editing, soundtrack, sound design, and, most importantly, the effects and cinematography. It received three Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture - Drama and Best Director, and won the Golden Globe for Best Original Score.
At the 85th Academy Awards, it received eleven nominations, including Best Picture.
Pi's father named him Piscine Molitor Patel, after the famous French pool. To avoid bullying in Pondicherry Secondary School, he takes the Greek letter "Pi" as a moniker. He is raised in a polytheistic Hindu family, but at the age of 12, he is introduced to Christianity and then Islam, and he resolves to follow all three religions because he "just wants to love God".
Pi's mother encourages him to flourish, while his rationalist father attempts to secularise him. Their family operates a zoo, and Pi becomes interested in Richard Parker, a Bengal tiger. When he comes uncomfortably near to Richard Parker, his father forces him to witness the execution of a goat.
