๐Ÿ”ฐGulab Singh was born on 17th October, 1792 in a Dogra Rajput family in Jammu.

๐Ÿ”ฐ He was the founder of the Dogra dynasty and the first Maharaja of the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir.

๐Ÿ”ฐHe joined the Army of Ranjit Singh in 1809 and was granted a Jagir and 90 horses.

๐Ÿ”ฐLater in 1822, he was declared as Raja of Jammu by Ranjit Singh. He became the richest Raja as he had taken most of the Lahore treasury.

๐Ÿ”ฐJammu was the second largest Princely State in British period. After the first Anglo-Sikh War (1845-46AD), the British sold the land of h through the "Treaty of Amritsar' (1846 AD) as he helped the British against the Sikh. span>

๐Ÿ”ฐHe consolidated the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
