The official summary of the film states, "When the soldiers of a tyrannical governing force approach a tranquil colony on the fringe of a galaxy, Kora (Boutella), a mystery stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Kora gathers a small band of warriors - outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war from many planets who share a shared thirst for forgiveness and vengeance.
She is tasked with locating skilled soldiers who would join with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World. A struggle for the fate of a galaxy is fought while the shadow of an entire Realm descends upon the most unlikely of moons, and in the process, a new army of heroes is created.
Scott Stuber, the head of Netflix Film, believes that it was not a good idea to make Rebel Moon three hours long when it was initially planned to be distributed as a single film. Vanity Fair quoted Zack Snyder's partner Deborah Snyder as saying, "Stuber was like, 'On the service, under-two-hour films really do better for some reason,' even though you'll binge-watch a series of eight episodes. "I'm going to lose all the character if you ask me to make this in less than two hours," Zack said. These people won't be important to you.
